Default Uh Oh Errors

I just recently, as in 3 days ago, put my computer together. I am running a program right now, called Asus Probe which came on the motherboard support cd, and it is telling me my CPU temp is 32deg C, and my Motherboard temp is 37deg C.

I was playing GW, and mind you, this has happened a few times before, I was loading a map, you know how it is, first time so I have to download all the files, and the game crashed. Now this hasn't been a frequent problem, but it scares me nonetheless. So a website window popped up from GW saying "This problem may be caused by overheating or memory problems yadda yadda yadda.

Are there any programs that don't take 4 hours to download that I could run to test my computer so I know it isn't overheating or having memory errors. I was going to get 3Dmark06, but it was going to take 8 hours to download, and when I checked back in 30 minutes, it was only 3% complete. (I have cable internet lol)

I just went into the game and opened it, and had it load. It is still loading, but I noticed the temp climb quickly from 31 to 37. It is still climbing but slowly. (The CPU temp that is.)

Right now it is 38! It seems to have hit a max of 40, but not gone over that.

40 Degrees is nothing to be scared of...seriously, nothing what-so-ever.

I mean, with a 1900XTX, getting to 70 degrees is normal supposedly says an ATI Staff member, mid 80s and 90 degrees are supposedly the point you should be worried about.

The only problem is that you keep crashing. Tried the Guild Wars client? Got the latest drivers?

PC specs? Got the latest Drivers for your Mobo as well and so forth?

40^C is nothing to worry about on a CPU. Last I heard you start worrying around 60+ or perhaps even closer to 70 these days. The Asus Probe will tell you the temperature inside your case and CPU, that is how you can tell if you are overheating. The video card on the other hand, I've never looked into it but with ATI for example there may be a place in the Catalyst Control Center that might tell you the temperature of the GPU. I have no idea what is considered a high temperature there.

3DMark won't tell you have you have over heating issues, or memory problems. It may crash which could lead you to suspect this, but all it truely does is measure the performance of your computer and compare it to a baseline they've established.

Memtest86 can be downloaded, it is a really small program and can be booted directly off of CD. That program will stress and test your RAM and let you know if there is a problem.

OT: Isn't the Guild Wars Client from the website the exact same thing you get on the CDs? Save for the fact that on the CDs you get Version 1.0 of the Tyria world and therefore don't have to download everything when you enter a new area for the first time. You just have to download any changes that have been made to that area...

As for latest drivers.. usually a good idea especailly when faced with issues specific to graphcs (or sound etc). However try to stay away from anything with the word 'beta' in the title, could end up causing more problems than fixing.
